FCHS Humanities Academy Application 9th grade Cohort
The FCHS Humanities Academy offers a rigorous course track that cultivates students with a strong sense of global awareness who are empathetic and intelligent citizens of the world.

Students who are considering enrolling in the Humanities Academy should not only anticipate a challenging academic atmosphere, but a rich extracurricular and co-curricular experience that will require the ability to balance a weighty work load both during and after school.

The Humanities Academy will provide the critical thinking skills for the following fields: journalism, education, law, writing (fiction or industry related), psychology, politics, advertising/ marketing, business administration, economics and entrepreneurship.

Once admitted into the Humanities Academy, students are expected to remain within their scheduled classes for the duration of the year and regularly participate in service activities.

A tremendous part of the Humanities Academy is the commitment to Advanced Placement courses. These are college-level classes that offer curricula comparable to those of college freshmen. Students must be prepared to devote the necessary energy to consistently achieve and maintain a B average or higher in the aforementioned courses. Course descriptions and course requirements are outlined on the College Board website.

By submitting this application for the Humanities Academy, I understand that all statements of support are confidential and all rights to access the statements are waived by both the student and parents.

Please note that this is a competitive application process, much like a college admission application.
